You don't push down necessarily, put a tiny screwdriver or such in between the striker assembly and the back plate and then push the striker assembly what would be forward in its assembled orientation. The striker plate will slide right out.I forgot who posted this sometime back, but this is how I now remove all of my base plates. Being right handed, I hold the Glock tool in my right hand and magazine in my left hand. I push the tool fully into the base plate through the "button hole" then, I pull with my right hand and push with my left.....works perfectly every time..
